Andrea Blais, Calgary, Alberta
ACC Feature Gallery 15 on 35: January 17 - March 28, 2015
How has has the ACC influenced your craft career (in the past, present or opened up possibilities for the future)?
The Alberta Craft Council has provided an important platform for the creation, marketing and exhibition of my work. The resources provided by ACC have allowed me to develop new forms and varieties of my expression. The access to the ACC community of artists and patrons has expanded and promoted my craft. The advocacy of established professionals has opened new opportunities for me while increasing my awareness of what is possible.
What are your views and expectations about the future of the ACC?
The opening of the Alberta Craft Council Gallery and Shop at the cSpace King Edward Arts Hub in Calgary is extremely exciting for me. The prospect of participating in and attending ACC functions in Calgary, so close to my home, heightens my expectations of what ACC can provide to both individuals and the greater cultural fabric. I look forward to strengthening my ties to the craft community while embracing the enrichment of the local scene.
