Event: Village Market at Ukrainian Day, Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village - Edmonton, AB

Witness history come alive as Alberta’s Ukrainian community celebrates its pioneer roots as well as all things Ukrainian in the province today. An afternoon concert featuring the best in Ukrainian dance and music takes place at this annual event co-hosted with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Alberta Provincial Council. Other family fun includes a visit to the historical village, children’s activities, village market and the Ukrainian Village Food Festival. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for seating.

Event: Village Market at Harvest of the Past, Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, Edmonton, AB

Celebrate Alberta’s agricultural roots with a traditional harvest at the Ukrainian Village. See the Village one last time and witness an old-fashioned threshing bee complete with vintage farm equipment and grain deliveries to the historic elevator. Other historical activities include flower and herb drying, feather stripping, making kapusta (sour cabbage), grinding wheat, quilting, and canning of produce from the museum’s gardens.

Event: Alberta Culture Days

Dates: September 29 - October 1, 2017

What a special year for Alberta Culture Days - we are celebrating our 10th Anniversary in 2017 and with Canada 150 celebrations across the province, this promises to be the biggest year yet!

Alberta Culture Days will feature hundreds of free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to discover their inner artist, experience their heritage, and celebrate what it means to be Albertan.

Five organizations have been named Alberta Culture Days feature celebration sites and will offer three days of programming including cSPACE King Edward. Activities over the three days include special events at the Alberta Craft Gallery - Calgary at cSPACE and Alberta Craft Gallery - Edmonton. Stay tuned for more details on our planned events.

Event: Biennial Quilt Show 2017 - Leduc, AB

Dates: October 13 & October 14, 2017
Friday 12pm - 7pm & Saturday 9 am - 4 pm
Location: Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC), 4330 Black Gold Drive, Leduc, AB
Admission: $8 (5 yrs. and under FREE)

This year’s show will be held in the Field House at the LRC with the display of quilts, a merchants mall, demonstrations, door and raffle prizes.


In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday we will also be featuring the “All Beings Confluence” hosted by Martha Cole.
