Denise Ahlefeldt (Edmonton, AB) graduated from the University of Alberta in 1997 with a Bachelor of Design degree, and since then has worked as a professional graphic designer in Edmonton. Denise discovered clay as an artistic medium in 2007, and has spent the past few years developing her skills as a ceramic artist.
Staying true to her roots as a designer she uses clay as her canvas. With a keen eye for colour and a love of pattern, texture and illustration she creates a line of functional pottery, called Mod Pots Contemporary Ceramics, that is unique, modern and fun, with just a touch of nostalgia.
Stemming from my background in graphic design, I gravitate towards clean lines and strong patterns as well as vibrant colour combinations. I am a fan of mid-century modern and Danish modern design, both of which inspire and influence my own design aesthetic.
