Alberta Craft Awards

The Alberta Craft Council is honoured to celebrate the nominees of the 2018 Alberta Craft Awards and invites members and guests to celebrate the nominees of 2018. The Alberta Craft Awards Ceremony will take place in the RGO Treehouse at cSPACE King Edward, home of the Alberta Craft Gallery – Calgary, on October 20, 2018 from 7 - 10pm.  Event details

The Alberta Craft Awards are designed to honour individuals and groups who make significant contributions to Alberta’s fine craft culture. The awards not only stimulate awareness and instill distinction for fine craft in Alberta, they also instill distinction for fine craft in Alberta, they invigorate and give prominence to deserving artists and their work. 

Award Categories

Early Achievement Award - $1000

For an emerging craftsperson/student, in recognition of his/her achievement to date and/or potential. (ACC members only).
Nominees:
Carissa Baktay, Pamma FitzGerald, Caroline Forde, Ginette Lund, Mynthia McDaniel, Allison Tunis.

Excellence Award - $1000
For an established craftsperson who excels in his or her area of craft. (ACC members only).
Nominees:
Ana Buzzalino, Linda Chow, Linda McBain-Cuyler.

Linda Stanier and Family Memorial Award for Excellence in Ceramics - $2000
This endowed award celebrates the life of Linda Stanier and honours excellence in ceramics. The nominee should work and reside in Alberta and be primarily a studio-based, full-time professional ceramic artist. A couple that works together on the same work may be considered as one nominee.  Nominations may be made by individuals, groups or by the Alberta Craft Council.
Nominees: Dawn Candy, Tanya Doody.

The Tom McFall - Honour Award - $1000
For a volunteer, supporter, teacher,  craftsperson (individual or group) who has made a significant contribution to Alberta’s fine craft culture.
Nominees: Irene Naested, Natali Rodrigues, Jennifer Salahub, Vikki Wiercinski, Kari Woo.

Nomination period closed - The Alberta Craft Council has revised the nomination process for the 2018 Alberta Craft Awards making it easier than ever to nominate a deserving Craft Artist and/or Advocate in our province.

Step 1 - Nominate - Deadline August 1, 2018

Write a Nomination Statement – a one-page explanation why the nominee deserves to receive the award. Be sure to include the nominees name, contact information (email & phone) and of course, the title of the Award that they are being nominated for.  Email the statement to acc@albertacraft.ab.ca.

Step 2 - The ACC will contact the Nominee for the final submission details - Deadline September 1

The ACC will then contact the Nominee to coordinate their cv, bio and photos as well as prompt them to gather 3-5 additional letters of support.
