Valerie Baber (St. Albert, AB) is a talented fibre artist whose pieces show the upmost skill and attention to design. Originally from Eastern Canada, she owned and ran a knitwear business called “Hey, Diddle Diddle” for ten years. During this time Valerie designed and knit ready-to-wear items as well as wrote and designed patterns for a knitting magazine. Valerie currently resides in St. Albert where she continues to create exciting knitwear pieces while working on an Interior Design Diploma.

Valerie’s inspiration comes from the world around her such as nature, colours, shapes, and people. She enjoys the texture, colour and nature of pure fibre yarns which is why she only uses 100% merino wool, silk, and baby alpaca yarn in her work. Valerie’s distinctive line of women’s accessories combines both knitting and crochet in design as well as use of only high-end yarns for optimal comfort. Her goal is to make wearable art pieces to add flare and style to any wardrobe with a unique characteristic essence of the person who has chosen to wear them.
