Meet the nominees: Alberta Craft Excellence Award 2018

This award celebrates an established craftsperson who excels in their area of craft.

clockwise: Ana Buzzalino, Linda Chow, Linda McBain Cuyler◾️Ana Buzzalino grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where sewing was part of her life at an early age. In early 1983, Ana moved to Calgary where she has been a teacher on a variety of quilting techniques for the past 30+ years. A frequent contributor to Quilting Arts Magazine and Quilting Arts TV, Ana has won several awards at local, national and international shows, including Quilter of Distinction at Heritage Park for 2019.

◾️Born and educated in Hong Kong, Linda Chow came to Canada to attend the Alberta College of Art where she studied with eminent jewellery artist Harold O’Connor. Establishing her goldsmithing business after graduation, she has won numerous awards in her 30-year career. Her work has exhibited in galleries across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom as well as in various private collections.

◾️Linda McBain Cuyler creates rich, textural fibre art focusing mainly on landscapes and garden-scapes, referencing the interaction between people and nature. A full-time artist for over 20 years, she is an active member of the art and textile art community. Highlights of her career include being selected for the 2009 Craft Biennale in Cheongju, South Korea and the Cultural Olympiad during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
