Dawn Candy is a visual artist living and working in Red Deer, Alberta. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge where she studied world religions, analytic philosophy and history. She then went on to achieve her diploma in Visual Art from Red Deer College. Currently she teaches several community art classes in addition to making her own work.
Little Sister Pottery is her collection of functional ceramics inspired by pattern, rhythm and landscape, both wild and cultivated, and by natural forces such as wind and tide. The work features strong visual edges and dynamic texture, designed to indulge not only the eye but the hand. As her pieces are used throughout daily living she hopes they convey a sense of elegance, but also the wonder and playfulness she feels in making them.
