George Heagle (Edmonton, AB) has been designing furniture for over 25 years. Following the principles of the Arts and Craft Movement, he strives to make furniture that is sound and honest in construction. Using simple forms to exploit the inherent beauty of wood, George brings resonance and harmony to form and function.
“Often in my work I will use the grain, wood colour and the line to execute my designs. I simply try to demonstrate the inherent beauty of the wood. Lately, I have been exploring the Japanese concept of ‘wabi-sabi’ the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete; what I call ‘restrained simplicity’.”
