New Public Art on Capital Boulevard Featured in Edmonton Journal

Dawn Detarando & Brian McArthur, Julia Reimer & Tyler Rock are featured in the February 16, 2017 Edmonton Journal article and video "Paula Simons: Five new sculptures aim to animate Capital Boulevard in time for Canada's 150th birthday". This summer, Capital Boulevard in Edmonton will become a sculpture walk, with five art installations, designed to mark Canada’s sesquicentennial — one per block.

Mindy Andrews Participating in Last Call II Exhibition

Exhibition Dates: March 3 - 31, 2017
Location: Companion Gallery, Humboldt, TN

Last Call II features handmade ceramics for pouring, storing, and sipping fine libations. The exhibition was juried by Jen Allen and participants include ACC member Mindy Andrews. The Companion Gallery is a vessel oriented gallery, their primary focus is on emerging and established studio pottery from North America.

Amy Skrocki has won a 2017 Niche Award in the Professional Fashion Accessories category. Sponsored by NICHE magazine, the NICHE Awards program began in 1989 to celebrate excellence and innovation in American and Canadian fine craft. Artists are recognized in both professional and student divisions.

All three positions will share duties and schedules, and will be hired to work as a team. One position will be focused on exhibitions. Another will be focused on retail marketing and sales. The third position will be focused on communications, media relations and events. All three will work closely with ACC’s provincial staff.

The ACC’s new Alberta Craft Gallery – Calgary staff should have:

  • relevant post-secondary education
  • experience in fine craft exhibitions, marketing, communications, and/or volunteer coordination
  • ability to work independently as well as effectively with colleagues and volunteers
  • a studio practice and/or broad knowledge in contemporary fine craft
  • valid driver’s license
