Visual arts preview: Two award winners featured in Earthly Elements

Fish Griwkowsky, for the Edmonton Journal, recently wrote an article on the Earthly Elements and interviewed participating artist Les Manning.

"Full of fire, patience and the ability to elevate the raw, Les Manning is a sort of human kiln.

Since his early work in the mid-’60s, the Medicine Hat ceramics master craftsman has responded to the topography of southern Alberta, simultaneously changing the landscape of how we make art in the province by influencing decades of students and even designing their creative spaces."

Canadians back government support for arts in Heritage poll

An overwhelming majority of Canadians believe arts and culture is worthy of government support, according to the results of a poll commissioned by Canadian Heritage. When asked: "How much importance do you think governments in Canada should place on supporting arts and culture in Canada?"

New ACC Display @YEG

The Alberta Craft Council has set up a new travel inspired display in the Rotational Art Program at the Edmonton International Airport. The new expansion at the EIA is home to six rotational displays and five partner displays that are integrated as part of the building.

Featured Artists: Dawn Detarando, Linda McBain Cuyler, Jill Nuckles and Claire Uhlick.
