Available at the Alberta Craft Gallery - Edmonton

Chloe Lydia recently finished a year-long artist residency at Medalta in Medicine Hat, Alberta, from September 2018 to August 2019. During her residency, she self-directed her studio practice, combining functional wares and installation pieces in the means of still life creations. Exploring details of memory and the effects that mundane objects have on the personal psyche, Chloe displayed her installation, "Her Loft, " depicting her grandmother's sewing room at the Yuill Family Gallery in Medicine Hat, AB.

Chloe graduated from AUArts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics in 2016. Since then, Chloe has worked out of many ceramic studios around Calgary and Edmonton, including Fairview Studios and Clay Creations in Calgary, AB. Now settled in Edmonton, Chloe has become very familiar with the city's pottery community that she now calls home. She has made a studio home for herself at The Shop.

Teaching wheel throwing and hand-building classes at the City Arts Centre and The Shop allows her to keep herself connected within the clay community. She is also affiliated with Viva Clayworks, working as a studio technician and pottery instructor. The craft community surrounds Chloe once again, which fuels her creativity.

Being raised in a family that celebrates creativity and making, Chloe has loved working with her hands from a young age. Influences of sewing, mending, and carving enabled her to appreciate and value traditions passed on through generations. Chloe's ceramic work is informed by her background in textiles and metalsmithing.
