Rita Oostendorp (Edmonton, AB) has taught and sold her work for over twenty years in Nova Scotia, Ontario and Alberta; in both commercial studios and at her own home. Sewing and needlecraft had always been a lifelong interest but the first time she took up quilting was when one of her painting students requested a lesson. Since then, she has not looked back!
Rita has won a First in Category for a quilt entitled “Ice Storm” at The Focus on Fibre Arts Competition in 2000 and a Second in Category for a quilt entitled “Directions” at the 2002 Focus on Fibre Arts Competition; this quilt was also part of a travelling exhibition for the Edmonton Art Gallery.
When asked how the quilting is going, she replies, “I can’t keep up with the ideas”.
