The Alberta Craft Council is excited to present our Annual Alberta Craft Awards. We invite you to nominate someone who deserves to be recognized for their dedication to Alberta's fine craft culture, perhaps a colleague, a teacher, a friend, a craftsperson or even yourself.

Annual Submission Deadline is August 1

  • Award of Honour
    For a volunteer / supporter / teacher / craftsperson (individual or group) who has made a significant contribution to Alberta's Fine Craft Culture

  • Award of Achievement
    For an emerging craftsperson/student, in recognition of his/her achievement to date and /or potential (ACC members only)

  • Award of Excellence
    For an established craftsperson who excels in his/her area of craft (ACC members only)

  • Linda Stanier & Family Memorial Award
    Celebrating the life of Linda Stanier, an annual endowed award has been created to honour an Alberta professional craftsperson working in clay (Self nominations are acceptable for the Stanier Award)

2006 Alberta Craft Award Recipients


On October 5th, 2006 over 200 people gathered at Art Central in Calgary for our 2nd Annual Alberta Craft Awards ceremony. Three Alberta Craft Council awards were presented along with the Linda Stanier & Family Memorial Award for Excellence in Ceramic Arts.

2006 AWARD OF HONOUR Recipient:

Dee Fontans - Jewellery, Enamel & Fashion Designer, Calgary

The Alberta Craft Council Award of Honour is presented to a volunteer, supporter, teacher, craftsperson (individual or group) who has made a significant contribution to Alberta's Fine Craft Culture.


AWARD OF EXCELLENCE Recipient:

Henry Schlosser - Fine Furniture, Calgary

The Alberta Craft Council Award of Excellence is presented to an established Alberta craftsperson who has excelled in his/her area of craft practice.


2006 AWARD OF ACHIEVEMENT Recipient:

Co-Recipient: Sonja Neven - Jewellery, Cochrane

The Alberta Craft Council Award of Achievement is presented to an emerging, or student craftsperson, in recognition of early achievement and/or demonstrated potential.

Co-Recipient: Do-Hee Sung - Clay, Calgary

The Alberta Craft Council Award of Achievement is presented to an emerging, or student craftsperson, in recognition of early achievement and/or demonstrated potential.


2006 LINDA STANIER & FAMILY MEMORIAL AWARD Recipient:

John Chalke - Calgary

After Linda Stanier's passing in May 2004, her family worked with the Edmonton Community Foundation and the Alberta Craft Council to establish this permanent, endowed award for excellence in studio-based ceramics.
