"When I decided to deal with the ceramic vessel, I understood there were certain prescribed boundaries that must be adheared to. The vessel must function in the obvious manner it was intended -a teapot should hold water and be able to make tea. As well, it should be aesthetically pleasing both to the eye and the touch.

"The glazes and decorations I use are designed to be simple and minimalist. They will hopefully reflect to some small extent my prairie environment and the strong influences of the sky. The artisan merely sets parameters and works with his hands and his tools within those parameters."
