Tyler Rock works from his studio in Calgary, Alberta. He studied glass blowing at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary and has attended glass workshops at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario and Red Deer College in Alberta. Since 1995 Tyler has shared his knowledge by becoming a glass instructor at the Alberta College of Art and Design.

"I came across a book about glass which delighted me because it made me reconsider the glass we take for granted every day. Glass is transparent but with transparency comes light and light can potentially shape environment and mood. At some point I would like to control the light cast through these works by the shapes created in glass and the use of optic moulds. I find great satisfaction and surprise in what light and glass do naturally."
