Teresa Wyss

Available at the Alberta Craft Gallery - Edmonton

Teresa Wyss is a Calgary-based potter, creating small batch, functional art ceramics. She earned a Geography degree with honours while at the University of Guelph in 1992, but now focuses entirely on her pottery pursuits.

Her unique work is all wheel-thrown, covered in black slip, and hand-carved using the sgraffito technique. She works in a porcelain stoneware clay body, and all of her glazes are formulated from her own recipes.

Her work draws from her childhood home on a farm, and her lifelong love of and fascination with nature. She currently works from her studio in Calgary, where she lives with her husband Nick, their son Rowan and two daughters Charlotte and Samantha.
