Jill Allan is an artist and educator originally from Vancouver Island. She graduated in 1999 with a BFA from ACAD, Calgary, and since that time she has built her career as an artist; designing, producing and promoting her own work, while also working for other artists in Victoria and Vancouver. In 2011 Jill travelled to Bowling Green, Ohio to pursue an MFA. She graduated in 2013 from the Department of 3D Arts at Bowling Green State University and accepted a one year teaching term in the Arts and Humanities Department Glass Area at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Returning to Canada in 2014 Jill eventually settled in Calgary, AB where she accepted work as a sessional instructor at the Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts). She has recently relocated to Edmonton, Alberta (2020) to begin her work for the Alberta Craft Council as Exhibitions and Member Services Coordinator. Jill Allan’s work has been collected by the Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York State, ACAD in Calgary, The Making Treaty 7 Society in Calgary, The Canadian Craft Museum in Vancouver, and Kirkwood Community College in Iowa. 

Jill is influenced by Scandinavian and Asian craft and design traditions. Her work is clean and modern making the most of the characteristics of glass; exploring themes of colour, pattern and the interplay of light with the material she uses. In addition to making glass beads and blown objects, Jill is interested in Neon installation and designing with light.
