ACC members exhibition: Linda J. Hawke & Linda McBain Cuyler "Patterns of Places"

Art Gallery of St. Albert presents: Patterns of Places
September 6 - 29, 2012
opening reception September 6, 6-9 pm

Patterns of Places explores the fabric of the prairie landscape. Three artists take us on a journey from the ground and upwards with paint and fibre.

Linda J. Hawke's colourful works utilize paper sewing patterns, stitch, paint and other found objects. Inspired by the rural countryside and occupying figure-sized space, her sewn pieces ponder how we shape the land, and in turn how it shapes us. With acrylic paint, fabric and thread, Linda McBain Cuyler provides a bird's eye view of the colourful patterns and textures made by humans on the land. From square sections of farmlands to small lots in a city subdivision, looking down we are reminded that we are all not very far apart, or so very different. Journey to the colourful, trouble-free world depicted in Pam Weber's acrylic prairie landscape paintings. Her characteristic paintings, depictions of rural life and landscape, cultivate an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
