Join Cate Kuzik of Ochre Lea for a playful, hands-on block-printing workshop where you'll create your own one-of-a-kind face shirt!
Cate has pre-carved a collection of funky lino blocks featuring all kinds of wild eyes, noses, mouths, and shapes. You'll mix, match and arrange the blocks to create your own unique face design, then print it onto a shirt to take home.
All printing materials will be provided, and you're welcome to bring your own article of clothing to print on instead. A cotton or other natural-fibre garment will work best.
No previous experience is needed. Crafting is for everyone, but we recommend that children 10 and under participate with a guardian for support and supervision.
About this workshop: Please note that this is a drop-in workshop, so pre-registration is not available through Eventbrite or on-site.
About your instructor: Cate Kuzik (she/her) is a community-taught multidisciplinary Indigenous/Scottish artist and maker currently based in Amiskwacîwâskahikan/Edmonton. Through a combination of printmaking, fibre arts, and leather-craft, her practice is often guided by a curiosity of the emotional effects of colour – especially those that spark happiness and joy.
While eager to explore a variety of craft mediums, she usually finds herself returning to traditional handmade techniques. Cate teaches printmaking and leather-craft workshops throughout Alberta as a way to connect with others while sharing the joy of craft.
