Participants will transform a pre-formed leather mask into an original, expressive piece through guided decoration and personal storytelling, exploring the history and meaning of masks while incorporating found or meaningful materials. The mask workshop will discuss the role of masks throughout history and how the makers personality finds its way into the mask. Participants are encouraged to bring anything from home or from nature they wish to incorporate into the mask.

About your instructor:
In 2011 Dale Ladouceur (Edmonton) made her first work out of leather; a quiver from tools loaned to her by a bandmate from Sweden. Soon afterward she met an old saddle-maker who sold her his leatherworking tools and mentored her over the next decade. Now, Dale’s custom work sells all over Canada, US and Europe and is an in-demand workshop facilitator.

Registration:
This workshop offers both advance registration and same-day registration to accommodate both pre-planned participants and farmers market visitors. Same-day registration starts at 10:30am, at the workshop site, for both time slots.
