“Sustainability is core to my work. Every piece intentionally incorporates repurposed or offcut wood, adding history and character to each piece. My craft is about giving old wood new stories, stories that you can eat off, set things on, or hang with pride.”

John is a lifelong learner and community minded maker who has developed his craft through practical work experience as a former wood working teacher, cabinet making certification at SAIT, collaboration with fellow members at his local maker space, and personal exploration and experimentation. Working under the name Mient Woodworking, John has been a member of the Alberta Craft Council since 2022, a member of Fuse33 Makerspace since 2018, and he is a member of Hand Made Here YYC, a group of local artisans in Calgary.
