Edmonton Marketing and Gallery Assistant

  • Hours: 35 hours per week Tuesday – Saturday

  • Pay: $18/hour

The Marketing and Gallery Assistant will work with the dedicated Alberta Craft Council team to develop their skills in marketing, arts administration and customer service, assisting in the retail and marketing of Craft. The employee will primarily assist the Digital Content and Marketing Coordinator by producing marketing materials for the organization, including exhibitions, public programming, and social enterprise retail.

The employee will also assist in the Alberta Craft Council retail gallery, which displays the work of 180+ Alberta emerging and established Craft artists. As part of this role, the employee will learn about various craft mediums, processes and artists. They will provide customer support in the gallery, process sales of artists' work, and learn proper object care, handling and packaging.

Working with our Marketing coordinator the employee with contribute to campaigns and content for the organizations programming, exhibitions, and retail galleries. We are looking for strong skills in: Content creation for digital platforms, Product Photography, Graphic Design, and Video Editing.

The employee will have the opportunity to expand their career skills in the arts sector in marketing and arts administration in a supportive environment learning about the various facets of a not-for-profit arts organization. This employee will have the opportunity to meet and work with Alberta Craft artists; expanding their professional network, their understanding of artists careers, and broaden their awareness of the contemporary Craft sector.

Ideal candidate is interested in developing a career in the arts, and is a current or recent student in an arts &/cultural management program, who has experience working with the public, strong organizational, computer, and communication skills.

Overview of physical demands: This position requires basic physical fitness; it requires alternate sitting or standing, may require standing for a period of up 5 hours, climbing ladders and stairs, walking, carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs, handling and carrying of fragile artwork, overhead reaching, crouching, kneeling, and stooping.
