Pirkko Karvonen

Pirkko Karvonen works from her studio in Boyle, AB. The Alberta Government, Visual Arts Branch employed her as weaving instructor and consultant for over 30 years. During this time she was sent to teach at the Alberta Vocational School at Grouard and Frog Lake for First Nations Youth. She also taught evening classes with the Edmonton Public School Board and the Sherwood Park Recreation Department for 30 years.

Pirkko has received the Order of Athabasca University, the City of Edmonton Award, and the Immigration Award from the Government of Canada.

Pirkko has exhibited her work throughout North America. Her work is in numerous public and private collections including the National Archives of Canada and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
