Jocelyn Lamothe

Available at the Alberta Craft Gallery Edmonton

Born and raised in the Edmonton area, Jocelyn's Métis ancestry is traced back through the Pease River area, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. On the journey to deepen the connection to her own family history, Jocelyn found her way to this traditional artform in 2017 and immediately felt a connection to the beads. Creating from home and within circles of artists, Jocelyn creates beaded pieces inspired by plant relatives, ancestor pieces, and personal creativity. She incorporates the spirit bead teaching, using one gold delica bead from her father's collection in each piece. In this way her art honours family and ancestors. Jocelyn creates from a place of gratitude and hopes that is experienced through each piece. âyi hay
