Kat MacLean is Calgary-based jewellery artist and Graduate Gemologist with a BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewellery from the Alberta University of the Arts. Her work explores the relationship between strong, architectural forms and the organic qualities of precious materials.

Rooted in traditional handmaking, each piece begins with a sketch and evolves through carving, forging, forming, and an intuitive response to the material. Kat’s work is characterized by simple structures, bold forms, and subtle elements of mystery and whimsy, often drawing on anatomical refrences to create a sense of familiarity and curiosity.

Her practice celebrates jewellery ans functional, wearable art objects made by hand, designed to be worn, and created to be treasured.
