Call for Entry
Reimagine – Future Stories from Past Treasures
We are excited to announce our latest call for entry under the theme “Reimagine – Future Stories from Past Treasures.” This year, we invite artists to explore and reflect on the future of contemporary jewellery through the lens of adornment, object-making, and sculptural form.
What does a reimagined future of once-loved jewellery look like? This theme encourages you to delve into the realms of memory, loss, uncertainty, optimism, connection and caution as you envision and create your final piece. Your work should embody creativity, innovation, and expertise, serving as a bridge connecting the past, present, and future.
Artists are invited to reflect on:
Family and personal legacies
Environmental responsibility of materials
The resilience or fragility of materials
The evolving landscape of ornamentation
The essential role of adornment as expression
We seek submissions that respond to diverse themes, including personal experiences, environmental stewardship, political discourse, social transformation, or the enduring nature of craft. You are invited to challenge, reimagine, or celebrate what the future might hold through your creative expression.
Submission Guidelines:
Open to Alberta Craft members in good standing
Works may incorporate a wide array of materials but MUST include elements from pieces donated to Alberta Craft Calgary’s “Bling Bucket”.
Documentation is required, including:
Photos of the original piece(s)
A written statement explaining your choice of pieces and their reimagined transformation
Sketches and/or process shots [optional]
The Bling Bucket is back!
