Reimagined: Future Stories from Past Treasures

  • Alberta Craft Calgary Gallery - cSPACE Marda Loop 1721 - 29 Avenue SW Calgary, Alberta. T2T 6T7 (map)

Reimagined – Future Stories from Past Treasures invited artists to explore contemporary jewellery through the lens of history and personal narrative. The works in this exhibition were created using donated pieces from the Alberta Craft Gallery’s “Bling Bucket,” a collection of pre-loved jewellery generously contributed by the community. Artists were challenged to transform these materials, reinterpreting them into new works that carry forward traces of their past while conveying new stories, bridging the gap between the past, present, and future.

Showcasing a diverse array of works—including creations by students from the Alberta University of the Arts’ jewellery program—the exhibition embodies creativity, innovation, and expertise. Artists delve into personal and familial legacies while examining themes such as memory, loss, uncertainty, optimism, connection, and caution. Through these explorations, the pieces reflect the evolving landscape of ornamentation and the essential role of adornment as a means of expression.

Join us in reimagining the future of jewellery as we celebrate the transformative power of art in connecting us to our histories, our environment, and one another.
