Learn the art of lino block printing! Design, carve, and print your own artwork in this fun 1.5-hour workshop
Join us for a hands-on Block Printing and Lino Cut workshop where participants will learn how to design, carve, and print their own artwork using a lino block.
We’ll start with a brief overview of tool safety and a conversation about design ideas. Participants are welcome to come with a concept in mind or develop one during the session. We’ll also look at how designs translate into print, including the important step of carving in reverse so the image prints correctly.
From there, participants will transfer their design onto a lino block and begin carving using hand tools, working slowly and carefully to remove material and reveal their image. Once the carving is complete, they will move into printing, rolling ink onto their block and pressing their design onto paper or fabric.
Because the session is short, we encourage simple and clear designs (like fruit or vegetables inspired by the market!) so there is enough time to complete both carving and printing.
Suitable for ages 10 and up. All materials are provided, and participants can print onto supplied paper or bring a fabric item to customize.
